When Serving Also Means Playing

As part of the Children’s Day celebrations, we shared a wonderful afternoon at “La Cuevita de Mis Sueños” in Boulogne, joining and supporting the NGO Soles de San Isidro for a day dedicated especially to the children.

Knights and Dames of our Order enthusiastically joined the activity with a true spirit of service, helping with the many tasks needed to ensure that the children could fully enjoy their special day. And if there was one thing that became clear throughout the afternoon, it was that when it comes to looking after, accompanying, and entertaining children, every helping hand matters!

The afternoon was filled with joy and fun. There was a clown show, a ball pit, inflatable games, and a variety of recreational activities, as well as raffles where the children received gifts such as soccer balls, cups, puzzles, and many other surprises.

We also shared a wonderful afternoon snack with cake, pastries, and hot chocolate, creating another special opportunity to spend time together, talk, and simply enjoy each other’s company. At the end of the day, each child received a small bag of sweets to take home as a reminder of a day created especially for them.

But, as so often happens during our service activities, behind the games, gifts, and celebration there was something even more important: being present.

Sharing our time, working alongside other organizations, and lending our hands wherever they are needed is also a way of living the values that unite us as an Order.

We would therefore like to extend our special thanks to Soles de San Isidro for allowing us to be part of this wonderful initiative, and to every person who contributed their time and effort throughout the day. Working together made it possible for the true protagonists of the celebration—the children—to focus on what mattered most: playing, laughing, and having fun.

At the end of the afternoon, we returned home tired but happy, with the satisfaction of a job well done and, above all, grateful for having shared a day that will surely remain in everyone’s memories.

Because sometimes, serving also means something as simple and as meaningful as helping to create moments of happiness.
